Do you agree of disagree? Television has destroyed communication among friends and family. |
As television has pervaded deeply into many people's routine lives, some people worry about some negative effects of televisions. They argue that television has destroyed communication among friends and family. However, I think that those people are wrong. Conversely, I firmly believe that television has positive influences on communication omong friends and family. Because it gives more time to get together and more issues that people can talk about.
To begin with, people have much more chances to gather in one place in order to watch television. Most of family and friends are likely to watch television together at their home or workplaces. Thus, they can spend their time together with the help of television. For example, my family and I could not have much time to see each other because of different time schedules. Sometimes I could not see my brother for several weeks even though we lived at the same place. However, after me and my family started to watch a soap opera, we were able to see each other every day. Television still serves as a string that connect my family together.
In addition, television offers many kinds of subjects that people can have conversation with others. They can talk about an event from news and a story line of a soap opera and so on. Those issues are easy to share with many people because most people watch television. To illustrate this point, when I was doing my military sevice, there was no television during first six weeks of trainning. Therefore, my peers and I who were used to talk about hot issues from television could not have much conversation each other. Although we have had many conversation after we have got closed each other, there were definitely less subjects that we could share and talk about.
To summarize, people can enhance their relationships with other people with the help of television. Because it helps people to assemble and gives many subjects that can be used as hot issues of conversation. Television became one of the staple items that need to maintain social life. |
