- It is better for children to grow up in the countryside than in a big city. -

People have different opinions about educational environment. Some people might prefer rural community for its clean nature`s positive effect to kids' health. Nevertheless, I strongly argue that urban community is more beneficial for children to grow up because of diverse and exciting life. Also, being in a big city guarantees more chances to grasp latest information.
More than anything else, a city can give children active and amusement life. Most of cultural events are held in a big city, so youngsters easily experience a variety of festivals, which make them pleased. In fact, I was born and grown up in a small community where there were not enough places to enjoy. When I went to Seoul, the capital city of Korea, at age ten, the visit surprised me with a number of cultural events and well-constructed amusement parks. At that time, I could enjoy the whole day with laughs and uplifted feelings, making me envy for the kids who lived there. As we can see from my experience, raising kids in a city enables them to have pleasant time with many parks and spots.
On top of that, kids can absorb a lot of recent knowledge. In this knowledge-based society, the amount of information a person gets is considered the most important factor to be successful. A famous futurologist, Alvin Toffler, also suggested the importance of knowledge in his reputable book, 'The Third Wave'. It is true that the advent of the Internet narrowed down the probability of getting knowledge between a city and the country. However, there is still a restriction for locals to obtain latest information as fast as cities do. In this sense, it is obvious that children in a city are more likely to success in the future than those who are in a rural area.
To sum up, I believe that parents should bring up their youngs in a city for the reasons of cultural experiences and seizing more information. Some people might say that I am trying to make kid's life too tight with impounding them in a larger area. However, they have to remember the fact that in this ever-changing society, a person's competency is the key to be more successful, and only a big city can open many possibilities to children.
