topic:#007 : How do movies ir television influence people's behaviors?
Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. ________________________________________________________________________________
For a long time, there have been lots of papers, seminars and debates about " the pros and cons of TV and movies"; some call TV "the stupid box". But others name it "the happy box". For me, bothe sides seem to have reasonable opinion. Movies and television, I think, have effect on people's behavior in both ways; in a good way and in a bad way.
Nowadays, TV and movies play educational roles such as an information source. Each day, television programs provide and flow enormous, precious information; new technology, economy, history, science, music and so on. In the room, we could cateh the scene which is happening on the opposite side of the earth or occurred hundreds years ago. So people can share and get important information through TV or movies.
Also, TV and movies give us pleasure. We can get a kind of emotional stimulus, smile, laugh, amd happiness in front of TV set or in the movie theaters. They blow fresh entertainment into our routine life named " happy energy".
In the other hand, TV and movies have bad effect on people. We easily face violent, scary and immoral scenes via TV or movies. In many researches, the imitational behaviors are likely o follow shortly after seeing them. For example, after a detective program which deals with crime, the rate of the similar crimes tends to increase in reality.
Another side effect which TV and movies give us is kind of stereotype. With frequent exposure to media and the stereotypes which media creates, they have been embedded in our thoughts and subconsciousness. Most of us act or think according to the stereotypes. For instance, in commercials, an attractive athlete gulps beer after sweating. This image endows us fancy image of beer; beer can solve our thirsty and make us refresh. In a drama or movie, an intelligent white-collar man who is smoking a cigaratte appears. Mistakenly, we easily get caught of fake image about smoking ; an intelligent man in thought should smoke.
In conclusion, movies or television influence our behavior in positive and negative way. It depends on people's choice how TV and movies influence people's behavior. So, if a person thoughtfully selects what to watch, media gives us more positive influence than negative influence.
