It is debatable whether if the teacher or meeting leader says something incorrectly during class or meeting, students or participants in a meeting should do something. In general, some people might say that they should say nothing or wait until the class or meeting is over and then talk to the teacher or meeting leader. In my opinion, however, I strongly believe that they have to interrupt and correct the mistake right away for the following two subsequent reasons.
First and foremost, interrupting and correcting a leader’s mistake can give positive effects to both participants in meeting and leaders since it provides both with the right way. To be specific, especially business companies, as they always pursue financial boons, incorrect information cannot allow them to make decisions. Furthermore, its risk can cause tremendous financial loss so that it is important for working people in a meeting to correct the mistake and to discuss actively. For example, when my uncle worked at a trading company, he often had to participate in regular meetings. Since his supervisor wanted people with the ability to discuss actively in order to manage his company successfully, his boss intentionally gave amiss information. However, my uncle realized that his boss was giving wrong information and asked him to correct. Finally, his boss paid him to additional bonus and elevated him. Through this experience, I realized that correcting the mistake is a valuable action for successful discussion and business.
In addition, concealing a teacher’s mistake is a wrong method in education because education should be an active activity. In classes, teachers encourage students to join the class actively. Also, teachers want to give correct information and receive enthusiastic feedback in order to teach students properly. If teachers realize that they have given their students the incorrect knowledge during in class, they will feel even more insulted. For instance, there was a survey conducted by the Korean Education Organization with 200 current high school teachers as respondents. The purpose of the survey is to understand a consensus view about teacher’s mistakes in terms of educational philosophy. An overwhelming 83 percent responded that teachers always want to receive enthusiastic feedback from their students even during class. Moreover, respondents admitted that they appreciated to the student who pointed out their mistake instantly.
In conclusion, pointing out and correcting the mistake of teachers and leaders can give rise to financial merits and correct education. In this regard, students and participants in a meeting should correct their mistake bravely.
