Nowadays, it is a critical issue that children should begin learning a foreign language as soon as they start school. Some people think that learning a foreign language in early age can be harmful to young children. However I agree with the opinion that children should learn foreign language as soon as they start school. I have two main reasons to support my opinion: having no prejudice, having much time. To begin with, young children have flexible minds. In other words, they do not have any prejudice about foreign cultures. They can be totally absorbed to a foreign culture and that can be helpful to them in case of learning foreign languages. When people learn a foreign language it is important for young children to understand the foreign cultures. I think the first step of learning foreign languages is understanding the foreign culture. According to the Government research about learning foreign languages, young children who understand a foreign culture learn the foreign language faster than children who don’t. Thus I think Children should begin learning a foreign language as soon as they start school because of their flexible minds about other cultures. On top of that, young children have much time to learn foreign languages than teenagers or adults. In other words, if a language academia assigns homework, young children can do the homework regularly because they have relatively much time. However, teenagers or adults who are older than young children do not have much time to do the homework related to foreign language because they are already busy enough because of preparing exams and handling business. When I was middle school students my English teacher told me that the time which I spent to learn English would not betray me.
To sum up, some people argue that learning a foreign language in early age can be harmful to young children. However, young children do not have any prejudice about foreign cultures and have much time to learn foreign languages than teenagers or adults. Thus, children should begin learning a foreign language as soon as they start school.
