▶ Your Answer :
It is better to complain in person than in
writing
Some people think that it is more effective
to send an email when they express their complaints while others think that it
is better to talk in direct directly. I
argue that face-to-face talking is the better than the other option. These
The reasons include that complainers can deliver
their displeasure without misunderstanding and use nonlinguistic factors in the
direct communication.
First of all, people can show their
complaints to the opponents without misunderstanding in person. Any
written forms such as an e-mail are one of the most useful
tools to convey your idea to other people. However, it takes time for receivers
to read and understand, and sometimes they misunderstand the intentions of
senders. In this situation, complainers speaking in person can easily explain
what happened and understand the opponents effectively, which can help one avoid the conflicts. Let me give my
personal opinion experience. There is
my I have a favorite Italian
restaurant in my town. One day, I visited there and felt very bad at a the new waiter’s service because he was so impatient
and impolite. Thus, I sent an email to the owner but it was hard for me to explain the specific situation. He
could not understand well enough too. The next time,
I visited the restaurant again, and I spoke
directly to the owner and elaborated how I felt. In the end, the waiter
apologized to me for the happening to me
and promised that it would not happened again.
Secondly, complainers can make the use of
nonlinguistic skills such as facial expressions and body gestures in face-to-face
communication. These factors play an integral role in effectively delivering
one’s opinion. In other words, through the their
help of them, the complaints can become
more persuasive to the listeners. According to the research conducted by Korea
University, one of the most prestigious universities in South Korea, it is
was revealed that most of the subjects easily
figure out speakers’ emotions by observing the movement of their face and hands.
More surprising to me was that the effects of the delivery of speakers’ purpose
become abruptly increased when they used more than five kinds of
gestures. This clearly indicated that personal communication combined with
these visible movements greatly help complainers to show their ideas.
For the reasons I mentioned above, I
strongly believe that complaining in person is a far better method than in
writing. (결론이 너무 짧습니다)
