In the today’s information Age, people
always acquire the information to do research from the internet, and they are
used to it. However, in my opinion, it is better to use printed material such
as books and articles than use the internet. I feel this way for two reasons,
which I will explore in the following two reasons.
To begin with, the information from the
internet can be wrong or misleading. This is because some data were written and
modified by non-professional person. This is the worst flaw of acquiring
information from the internet and this is the reasons why I can’t believe it.
My own experience is a compelling example of this. I had to do search the
information about major because of the thesis paper that professor assigned.
After gathering the information from the internet, I summarized and handed out
the paper. However, I couldn’t get good grade because there were mistaken
notions which were written by amateur. So, I realized that the internet is not
always correct. This example demonstrates that the knowledge from the internet
is not credible.
Moreover, printed media such as books have
the appendix that is written about reference books. These reference books would
be helpful to find the diverse and precise information. Although there also
have some relevant lists in the internet, it is not the information which
people exactly want. For example, After I found that the internet is not
accurate, I found the data from the books and articles. I could know about
latest information, the accurate experimental results, and even the concepts
associated with the experiment. So, I had more information than anyone else.
In conclusion, when searching for something, I
believe that it is better to use printed material than use the internet. This
is because the internet has some inaccurate information, and because books
provide a superior level of detail and diverse reference books.
