▶ Your Answer : As internet and school provides variety of
education materials and courses, students are able to learn many different
skills and information they want to. Some argue that developing one skill
exclusively is important, but I think that developing many skills are more advantageous
for students in modern society for these reasons: It can enhance creativity and
broaden their perspective.
First of all, developing various skills can
play a significant role in growing students’ creativity. It is obvious that when
students have lots of skills available, they can make use of them in creative ways.
If they have a lot of things available, they will also be able to combine different
concepts and come up with brilliant ideas. For example, according to a study
conducted by Seoul National University in 2019, students were participated in
special education system for one semester. Students were asked to
learn various subjects including English, history, math which are commonly
educated in high schools, and computer programming and utilizing big data hard to
be taught in common high school. At the end of semester, conductors let them
work on the recognizable result regardless of its form. There was an interesting
consequence in their work. Students made an education application using computer
programming skills, which is greatly creative and unexpected for students to accomplish.
Moreover, it can serve as a key role in broaden
their perspective. It is undeniable fact that they can undergo valuable lessons
by learning new things. It provides students various experiences they had never
had if they concentrate on single skill. By these experiences, they can interact
with many people from different backgrounds and develop themselves further. For
instance, My highschool was chosen as a globalize specialized school by Korean
Administration of Education. With the government’s active support, I could take
various classes such as English discussion, communicating skill and even global
politics, which is rarely taught in normal highschool putting much weight only on
Korean SAT. By taking those classes, I could interact with lots of foreign friends
and also broaden my viewpoint to see the world. Had it not been for the government’s effort to teach us various skills, I might not have these precious
experiences to get wider perspective.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that it’s
necessary for students to learn many skills for the reasons I mentioned above. All
in all, the importance of having various skills cannot be underestimated for quality
life. |
