▶ Your Answer : It is widely accepted that movies could not tell a lot about a country. However, as far as I am concerned, movies do an important role to convey story about a country. There are lots of examples and a study about this statement. To begin with, it is essential to think about many movies which are concerned about the history. This is because it has been a topic on various social network websites such as Facebook and Twitter, with people holding different opinions. Last March, I was highly active on Facebook and I encountered heated online discussions. Initially, I thought that it is hard of movies to tell about a country. However, upon further reflection, my interest on this topic increased, which led me to read relavant Facebook feeds. According to the feeds, a lot of people mentioned several movies whose stories are about a country, like 'Taxi Driver' in the Korea. This was enough to change my initial thought, and I learned that movies are enough to tell a lot about a country.
On the top of that, another important point that should be brought up is one study conducted last year. There was a poll done by Korean Herald with citizens over 100 living in Seoul as respondents. The purpose of the survey was to understand the consensus view about whether movies could tell something about a country. The majority of respondents ranked 'Yes' over 'No'. An overwhelming 88% had claimed that movies are showing the story of one's country since movies are including the information of each country such as culture, customs, and history by using specific musics, foods, clothes, and historical scripts. This survey demonstrates that movies are mediums between audiences and the story of a country. For these reasons, I believe that movies tell a lot about a country.
