Various opinions may exist over the
argument whether sports and social activities are just as crucial as classes
and libraries and should receive equal financial aid. As far as I am concerned,
I am in complete agreement with the argument. Two ideas stated below are valid
evidence to support my view.
To
start with, doing sports and social activities is more beneficial since it
shows outstanding effectiveness in improving social skills. Social skills are
fundamental abilities to live in modern life to interact with others. Unlike
the past, modern society require people who can surpass others both in specialty
and social skills. To be more specific, sociability and interpersonal
relationships are necessary qualifications in any successful person. Therefore,
given the need for collaboration in any places today, sports and social
activities are equally important to
classes and libraries which are related to academic purposes since it
provides people with the perfect opportunities to interact and communicate with others. Given that its
importance cannot be ignored, universities should provide equal amount of
financial support to bolster the qualities of sports and social activities.
Research conducted by a renowned professor named Ki Jin Han from Dongkuk
University indicates that an overwhelming 88% of respondents in university
answers that they bolster their social skills when they attend sports and
social activities. Pro. Han answered that by interacting with others they can
be socialized and it could play a crucial role when they get into workplace.
This demonstrates that sports and social activities are important in terms of
increasing social skills and the same amount of
money compared to classes and libraries should be spent on them.
Also, sports and social activities are helpful
for students to alleviate stress. Nowadays, people tend to have great pressure
not only physically but also mentally. The competition is overheated so they
are required to practice and build their career to exceed others. These
endeavors increase stress in recent times. At such times, sport and social
activities can reduce stress by
providing them with enjoying sports or their hobby by social activities.
Thus, considering this importance, universities should invest equal amount of
money to encourage many people to play social activities and sports. In my
case, I was so stressed by workload in my laboratory that I could not study
hard in my field, electromagnetic analysis. However, things got changed. My
university offered chances for students
to attend social activities. I joined playing games as one of activity, then I
reduce my stress by enjoying computer games. I gained a lot of energy to go on
and studied better although there were hard works. This shows that universities
should receive the same amount of support since they are equally beneficial
compared to libraries and classes.
To sum up, my explanations above
sufficiently prove that sports and social activities are eqaully pivotal to
classes and libraries, and univiersities should provide eqaul support compared
to classes and libraries. The significance of enhancing social skills and
reducing stress cannot be overemphasized enough.
