It is generally
agreed that teachers should not make their social perspective informed to
students in the class. Some people will say that the student can have the right
thinking by teaching teacher’s views. However, I strongly believe that the
teacher should not express their political and social views known to student
for a couple of reasons.
First
of all, students should think the social phenomenon objectively. What I mean is
that, they have the right to evaluate the social problems by themselves.
Additionally, if the teacher argues their views, the student might be biased to
it. Plus, if it is not equal to the parent’s thinking, they are really
frustrated about it. For example, when I was high school student, my teacher
said that World War only has the disadvantage factors so I agree it imprudently
and underestimate it. After that I knew it was not true. World War has the
beneficial factors in some parts. Therefore, the teacher should only teach the
facts.
Secondly,
the teachers should concentrate the theory when they taught the subject to
students. To be specific, I think they do not need to get their own views under
the high school, since they have to get a good grade and enter the university
is more priority to them. For instant, high school students will enroll at a
university after the graduation, most of students want to enter the good
university such as Harvard so that they need to study very hard. Hence, the
teachers should concentrate the theory related to subject.
All
in all, I believe that the teacher should not make their social and political
views known to student because the student has the rights they can evaluate the
social problem by themselves. Not only that, they don’t need to learn about
right views at that time. In the conclusion, I wholeheartedly agree the
statements that teachers should not make their social and political views known
to students in the classroom.
