Some people might say that students in school focus on their learning of a myriad of subjects without learning about social skills. However, in my opinion, I firmly believe that social skils are important as same as learning major subjects in school for the following two subsequent reasons. To begin with, the most crucial factor to be taught in schools is cooperation. To be specific, in contemporary society, workers have to work together with their coworkers. For example, I had a complicated work regarding preparing for the meeting with over than 200 people I could not do alone. In this situation, I did not think about how to handle the work by myself. Thus, I asked other coworkers for help by dividing my work such as setting the meeting places, monitoring audio devices and guiding people. Without this kind of cooperation, I should not have prepared for the meeting well and smoothly.
On top of that, the essential aspect in competitive society is to have a considerate attitude. To explain, unlike school life, people are required to have kind words and thoughtful behaviors for their employees. For example, there was the survey conducted by the Ministry of Labor, with 300 workers as respondents. The purpose of the survey was to figure out what the most important skills were in your companies. What it found was astounding. Overwhelming 85% responded that the greatest skill in the companies was to have considerate attitutes while working. This was because they always had a hard time to dealing with their work regardeless of their emotional condition. From the result, social abilities play a pivotal role in relationship. To sum up, taking the basic social skills mentioned above in society into consideration. it is worth being taught in school as well as major subjects. In this regard, I strongly believe that social skills are a priority to survive in severly competitive society.
