▶ Your Answer :
Television advertising plays an important role in people's lives. Some people think that advertisement should not be show to young children, while others belive that it should not be allowed. If I were asked to choose one, I would say that there would be no problem to show advertising toward kids who especially aged two to five. There are reasons and examples as follows. To begin with, young children are not the practical customer. It can be ture that the young children aged two to five were likely to be attracted by some TV commercials such as candy, snacks and toys. However, even though they are influenced by them, it would be difficult for them to make a purchase those products by themselves. In addition, they are too young to know about the value of money. Imagine that a child aged two properly pay for some snacks in the market. Would it be possible? The answer will be no. It would be even hard for them to get to the market. For example, When I was five, I really wanted to eat a chocolate, which is advertised on TV, and it looked so sweet in the ad. Although I keep asking my parents for buying the chocolate, they eventually did not buy the chocolate. This is because they were actual customers not me. On top of that, young kids do not have a lot interest in TV commercial. Imagine you were a child aged two to five. Have you had interest a lot in advertisement when you watch TV? They would just ignore the commercials since they want to watch fun animation or movies for kids on TV. Furthermore, especially the age two is too young to understand what advertisements are as well as the purpose of them. Therefore, it would be meanignless for them not to watch the ads. For instance, when I visited my uncle's house, my younger cousin who was two years old was watching TV. While watching TV, he did not even glimpsse until the commericals that were regarding robots and candies are over. The time when he started to watch TV was that the animation, which he really likes, began. In this sense, showing the advertisement toward kids would not need to be prevented. All thing considered, I strongly believe that exposure of TV advertisement toward young kids is not the problem. THer reason is that it would be hard for children to spend money and they do not pay attention as much as we expect. |
