With this understanding, I believe that it is important for high school students to learn a basic economics. This is because it helps students to broaden their interpersonal skills and enjoy a better quality of life. Firstly, gaining knowledge of a basic economics enables students to broaden their interpersonal skills. Understanding the relationship between social skill at work places and a potential role of taking a basic economics is critical to substantiat this view. People engaged in various academic studies in their high school years. In additon to their core subjects, such as calculus, literatures and etc, students had opportunities to take minor courses that they wanted to explore in decent. People who took a basic economics stated that it was extremely useful in building interpersonal skills for later years in society. For example, they joyfully continued talking with their clients who were interested in current economics. As these people had learned the important principles of economics in high school, they could easily create common topics. Furthermore, they added that their colleagues were pleased to listen to their opinions about current patterns of the world economy. In this respect learning a basic economy in high school has an effect of building strong social skills. Secondly, attaining information of a basic economics helps students to enjoy better quality of life. Interestingly, a renowned social scientist in South Korea recently published an article claiming that learning a basic economics in high school helps students to strengthen social competitiveness in the real job market and workplaces. According to the article 62 percent of 200 Korean leading recruiters prefer people who took economics in high school. They show such tendency because they know how to spend their money efficiently. In the long-run this kind of ability increase job performances. This is because analytical thinking based on the principle of economics helps people to distribute limited corporation budgets much more efficiently to maximize profits. This not only results in job promotions but also encourage people to enjoy a better quality of life. To sum up, I believe that it is important for students to learn a basic economics in high school for the following reasons; to broaden their interpersonal skills and enjoy a better quality of life. Consequently, the importance of my view cannot be underestimated due to the reasons I have mentioned above. |
