Opinions might be divided over whether it is important to use land for
human needs than for saving endangered animals. People of diverse ages and from
different walks of life may take diverse positions on this controversial issue.
Personally, I think that we should use land for endangered animals not for
human needs because we should save lots of animals and preserve our ecosystem.
To begin with, even now, many animals are decreasing in number because of
human activities, such as hunting and farming. The decreased number of
creatures results in disruption of the food chain and ecological circular
system. Thus, we must save endangered species. We are obliged to hand down the earth
to our next generation. Opponents of my perspective claim that people should
meet their needs first because they can save endangered animals later.
Advocates’ claims may sound reasonable on the surface. However, if we take a
closer look at their contentions, the rational for their assertion lacks logic
in many ways. Moreover, I have a personal example which can debunk their claim.
My hometown Gumi, there was a bird sanctuary, which was a very large plain and
many migratory birds came to every winter, so I could see many kinds of birds
flying. However, a few years ago, construction companies rushed to build new
apartment buildings without considering how the birds live in winter. As a
results, they lost their resting place, and have never come to Gumi again.
In addition, beyond my personal example, there are many articles which can
support my argument. They expressed doubts that are similar to my point of
view. A few weeks ago, I had a chance to read an article from the Dong-A Daily
News that is related to the topic. It described the results of a survey
conducted by the Seoul National University ecological researchers with more
than five hundred zoologists working in many other countries. According to the
article, of the 500 zoologists surveyed more than 80 percent of them answered
that approximately more than 100,000 species of animals have disappeared for 20
years, and this rate will be continuously growing. They went on say that nobody
exactly knows what the accelerated extinction works on earth, where human and other
creatures live together, so it is quite important to find solution to stop this
phenomenon.
As mentioned above, based on the examples, I can conclude that It is more
important to use land for human needs such as farming, industry than for saving
endangered animals. |
