In this world of controversy, the topic of
whether grades encourages students to learn is never-ending discussion. Some people assert that students would have an attitude to learn more actively with grades.
Indeed, there were very few students who learned a lot thanks to grades. Regarding the topic, I disagree that grades encourage students to learn a lot. There are
three main three points: inaccuracy, unfairness, and bias.
On one hand, grades discourage students because they can be inaccurate. What that means
is that grades might not actually demonstrate how much a student knows. For
example, my friend is very smart and knows the material, but he has to work
after school. So, he is always tired at school. While he studies late at night,
during classes, he has trouble concentrating, and he gets poor grades due to his attitude and attention even though he knows the answers.
Another reason I believe that grades discourage students is that
they can be unfair. Not all students have the same strengths. For instance, I had
to make a model (어떤 모델을 만드는 것인지? 어떤 수업인지? 정보가 부족합니다) for my class. I am not good at building things, so it was not a
good measure of how much I learned. If the teacher had let me write an essay, I
could have done much better.
The
last way grades discourage students is that they are biased. This is because
the grades are given by people, and people can be influenced by a number of
factors. To be more specific, teachers will give higher grades to students they
like than to students they dislike. This has nothing to do with how well the

In conclusion, there were the main three
reasons mentioned for my opinion: inaccuracy, unfairness, and bias. As a result, I
strongly believe that grades do not encourage students to learn a lot.
