Some people claim the use of old, historic building have some usage in aspects of educational values and cultural representative. However, in the modern world there are lot of consideration you have to account on. Moreover, most of the cases show that there are bigger benefits in destroying the old one and build a new on, in terms of economic value and establishing cities infrastructure.
First of all, building a new structure has greater economic impacts rather than preserving the old one. In other words, a city could make better use of the area by reconstruction. Regarding to the traits of a historical building, which is located at geographically important sector, the area has extreme financial potential. For example, ancient palaces are usually at the dead center of the main street. Also, the surroundings are flourished by lucrative merchants building and significant institutions. To be specific, Gung-Bok Palace which is the prime historical building in South Korea, occupied the most valuable location in Asia. if the city start destory the building and develop it into other economically efficient structure, the city could gain massive monetary advantages. Furthermore, the city could spend this extra revenue into citizens walfare. Hense, all of economic entity could earn some benefits.
Second, destroying a old structures is helpfu to establishing cities' infrastructures. Reserving historic buildings follows with implementing innumerous laws and regulations, which is the main factor hindering the development of the cities infrastructure. Such as water pipe, gas reserve, or powerplants cannot be placed in the area near by the historical bilding due to the regulations. Even though the plant facility does not directly adjacent with the old building, it still might get forbiddened. This intrupts the process of elaborating a city's basic infrastructure. For instance, in Paris, subways systems are tangled up with a random order. This happened due to the regulation which forced the constructurers to detour every single historical buildings. Not only that, but also until early 20 Century, the city's electricity system is very vulnerable and hard to fix. This is mainly because the electric lines are mingled all arround old building so that it is hard to detect actually location where the problem occured. In other words, it cause severe problems envolving inconvenience.
For these reasons, I beileve that city government should destroy and build a new building. This is not only lucrative, but also improve the basic system how the city efficiently works. Our descendants could enjoy the juice of the decision. |
