Some people claim that children should play sports for competition rather than for fun. Although people may hold different opinions and ideas, I personally support the idea that children should play sports for fun. In this assay, this kind of view will be discussed based on two main points. First of all, playing sports for fun would be helpful to enhance one’s sports ability. Let me introduce my personal experience to support this reason. When I was an elementary school student, I attended a soccer class. In order to get a good mark in the class, I competed with other classmates, but eventually my soccer grade was terrible. During the next semester, I attended a basketball class which does not give grades to students. I fully enjoyed each games, so I practiced hard even though no one asked me to do so. As a result, I became a very skillful basketball player. Since I played basketball solely for fun, I could do really well. Thus, I argue that playing sports for fun would increase one’s sports ability. Secondly, playing sports for fun would help release one’s mental stress. According to the recent scientific research results, an unnecessary competition raises one’s stress rates. On the contrary, research results also shows that enjoying fun sports lowers one’s stress rates. We encourage children to play sports since we expect them to get benefits of sports such as good health and mental. Therefore, we would all agree that children should be able to release their mental stress via sports, so that children can sustain healthy body. In conclusion, playing sports for fun would increase one’s sports ability and would help release one’s mental stress. Thus, I firmly believe that children should play sports for fun rather than competition. |
