▶ Your Answer :
Some
people might say that it does not need to get information from a variety of
source to be well-informed while others do not think this way. If I had to
choose one among the two above, I would say that people should use many
references to know exactly.
To
begin with, people can get the wrong information, if they only read one news
source. This is because that the
author of the news might write it with his personal bias. I will talk about my
personal experience to illustrate my opinion. I remembered when I was a
university students and one of my professors supported a particular political
party. He always wrote the journal criticizing other political parties on the
school newspaper. However, I read many news about the parties which was
criticized by the professor doing many volunteer works. Reflecting on my case,
relying only one news source is very dangerous behavior to know something
exactly.
On
top of that, the information from a variety of sources guarantees its accuracy
and objectivity. Also, people can get a lot of details. This is supported by a
survey that was conducted by Kim&Zhang in Korea. The purpose of the study
was to understand what is the best method to gather information. In the
investigation, a total of 800 columnists completed a detailed questionnaire.
What they found was intriguing. An overwhelming 87% had responded that they
usually collected information from many news sources. They also said that the
method allowed them to write more objective and more detail. The survey proves
that gathering information from a variety of news sources has many advantages
to be well-informed.
To
sum up, to get more accurate and detailed information, people should refer to
various new sources. For these reasons, I strongly agree with the given
statement. |
