Both the the reading passage and the lecture talk about whether dinosaurs were endotherms or not. While the passage claims that they were endotherms, the professor in the lecture refute this by giving counter argument to every evidence that the passage suggested.
The first evidence that the passage illustrates is polar dinosaurs. The dinosaur fossils have been discovered in polar regions, and it is very hard to expect to see any animals which cannot maintain their own temperature in cold climates. However, the lecturer refutes it, saying that polar regions must have been warmer than now. Also in cold periods, the dinosaurs which were non-endothermal could have migrated to warmer areas or even hibernate.
The second reason the passage suggests is that the dinosaurs' leg position indicates that their ability to sustain physical activity. Their legs are positioned underneath its body, and this allowed constant activities such as running. In contrast, the professor claims that it is more compatible to think their leg position as a key factor of standing their bodies' heavy weight, rather than their ability to run for a long time.
The last evidence that the reading tells is the Haversian canals found in the bones of dinosaurs. Those canals are usually found in the bones of endotherms, and they house nerves and blood vessels to allow the animal to grow rapidly. However, the lecturer completely disagrees by saying that the dinosaurs' bones get thickened as time passes and there used to be the periods when the bones grow rapidly and slowly. The dinosaurs' bones grow rapidly mostly in a warm climate, but usual endotherms' bones grow rapidly regardless of any temperature. (275)
