▶ Your Answer : At first
glance, it may seem movies do not tell much about a country. However, in my opinion,
a lot of unique characteristics appears on movies for two following indubitable
reasons.
To begin with, the language and background in
movies show distinctive traits and information about the country. To be
specific, although people have never been in a specific country, they can know
about the country though movies. For example, I could know a lot about the
United Kingdom by watching an English movie, ‘Sherlock Holms.’ I always wanted
to be in the country and learn English, but it was difficult for me to do that
because of financial problem and my schedule. However, through the movie, I
could study English more enjoyably and feel like I have been there. This case shows
that movies gives a lot of useful information and indirect experiences about a
country to people.
On top of that, since movies reflect a country’s
special culture, people can know about people’s daily life in the country.
Thus, in the movie, even if in the same situation, the scene can be directed in
different ways. For instance, when it comes to the country’s eating culture, we
can compare many countries. In oriental movies, people in the movies usually
use chopsticks instead of forks and knifes, which is primarily used in the western
culture. Also, in the former case, unlike in the western movies, there would be
a lot of side dishes on the table. These things are unique oriental features. Moreover,
we can even distinguish Korea and Japan among the oriental countries by comparing
the sitting position and detail menu of the dishes. This indicates that cultural
characteristics of a country can be projected in movies.
In conclusion, I am highly convinced that
movies let people learn a lot about a country for the two crucial reasons
mentioned above. |
