▶ Your Answer :
At first
glance, it may seem that having friends who are different from me is better
than those who are similar to me. However, in my opinion, making friends who
have many things in common with me is more advantageous for the two following
indubitable reasons.
To begin
with, we can have more fun when we enjoy activities that both of us like
together. To be specific, through those activities, we can share same hobbies
and interests. Thus, we can build a strong bond between us. According to a
survey conducted by a group of psychology majors, it showed the intriguing
result about friendship. The purpose of the survey is to find out the factors
that contribute to establishing good friendship. An overwhelming 84 percent of
respondents replied that they have a lot of same interests with their close friends.
In an interview with a respondent, she said similarity gives sympathy to people
and it helps people to become more close each other. As a result, this
indicates that people with same interests get along better than people with
different ones.
On top of
that, similar friends can understand about each other much better. On the other
hand, if they are too different from each other, they would frequently argue
and fight because of discrepancy of their opinion. Therefore, obviously,
relationship between friends strengthens through a lot of communication and deep
understanding about each other. For example, I have the closest friend who
knows about me the most among people around me. When I was in a hard time, she
gave me helpful and practical advice. Also, since she understands my situations
and thoughts well, her advice touched my mind more deeply and made me get
self-confidence back with warm encouragement.
In
conclusion, I am highly convinced that having similar friends affects me more
positively compared to having friends who are different from me for the two
crucial reasons mentioned above.
