▶ Your Answer :
At first
glance, it may seem that the new media is not a reliable source of unbiased
information. However, in my opinion, the most accurate and neutral source of
information is the news media for the two following indubitable reasons.
To begin
with, the news media is not opened to anyone. Primarily, when it comes to the
news media, the only information that is qualified as a truth is permitted to
be known to people. On the other hand, the media that can be accessed by
anyone, such as social media including the YouTube and the Facebook, is filled
with unreliable information. This is because, the access barrier of those media
is lower than the news media. For example, a traffic accident occurred in Korea
was reported by both the news media and social media a few weeks ago. The real
reason of the accident was the malfunction of the brake. In case of the news
media, most of the articles reported correctly. However, in social media, a
variety of reasons, including drink-driving and unlicensed driving, is shown.
This case revealed that because of the high access barrier and the need to be
qualified make the news media reliable.
On top of
that, wrong report can be a significant risk to the broadcasting station that
reported the news. In other words, since almost every person pays attention to
the contents of the news, if the wrong news is reported, the broadcasting
station would lose their reliability. Therefore, the broadcasting station would
make a lot of effort to report only the truth. For instance, a broadcasting
station in Korea reported a news about a policy recently enacted a few months
ago. However, roughly two weeks after the news, the news was revealed to be
false. After that, naturally, the public gradually got to lose credibility
about the broadcasting station. This indicates that in order to hold the public’s
credibility, the news media should concentrate on reporting unbiased and
reliable information.
In
conclusion, I am highly convinced that the news media is the most credible
source of unbiased information for the two crucial reasons mentioned above.
