▶ Your Answer : There might be some people who believe that information from various sources is not beneficial for people to be knowledgeable. However, I personally believe that there are many advantages when we obtain information from various sources. First, we can check the credibility of the information. Second, each source provides different kinds of information.
To begin with, we can get more accurate information when we search as many sources as possible. To be specific, as there is always a possibility that certain information is fake or lack of evidence, checking the truth through various information sources is very critical. Especially, these days, de-centralization of information is undergoing due to the advancement of technology, everyone can have opportunities to find out whether some information is reliable or not. Let me bring up my personal story as an example. These days, the Korean government strictly controls the block chain technology and I can only get negative information about it from Korean media. However, by searching internet portal sites and news from abroad, I can get useful information about the recent regulation trend in other jurisdictions and find the merits and demerits of it. If I hadn't searched other sources, I would have had much more limited view on the technology. This clearly shows that the importance of checking credibility of information.
In addition, every information source has its own characteristic and we can get wide range of information from various sources. As there are thousands of information sources, each source is specialized in particular area. For example, television news provides general information about social incidents, but newspapers such as Financial Times or Forbes give more specific and professional information on the economy. As such, being exposed to various information sources can make it easier for people to be more knowledgeable on many kinds of issues. According to research done by Seoul National University, two groups of students were provided with information. Group A was given materials from various sources and group B was only given opportunities to watch television news show. After being tested, it was found that group A have much more knowledge on different topics, which suggests that experiencing many sources has a significant role in one's knowledge.
To sum up, with reviewing a variety of sources of information, people can find out many aspects of certain information and become more knowledgeable. In this regard, I personally believe that it is required to experience diverse sources of information. |
