Some people think that grandparents cannot give useful advice to their
grandchildren, while others do not. Both sides may have their own reasons to
support their views. If I have to agree or disagree with the statement, I would
like to agree. There are two reasons as follows.
First of all, it is hard to catch up with all fast flows of the
generation. This fact especially matches with the field of technology. The better
and faster machines are continually pouring out, and thus, grandparents’ advice
far from the best ideal solution. It is a point that they cannot catch up the
generation. For example, I have lived with my grandfather who has interest in
the internet. One day, I asked him for help while doing homework of engineering
subject because he has often used a lot of internet sites. Unfortunately, the
site that he recommended was very old site, so I could not utilize it. As this
situation, grandparents cannot give us useful advice.
Second, grandparents have old-fashioned mentality. Since they have lived
very different life with us, there are some chances of friction regarding a
direction of life, a decision of career, and lifestyle. This is because there
are many prejudices until now that they always have thought that those are
unconditionally right. For example, my grandparents say that it is the best to marriage,
and then, to bear many children when my sister and I talk about career. Moreover,
they force my brother who wants to study engineering as a major to go to the
medical school. Since they have thought that the medical school is the best. As
my grandparents, their advice do not positively influence us.
All things considered, I strongly believe that grandparents’ advice
cannot be a good advice for the reasons I have mentioned above.
