Some people might think that hasty decisions sometimes result in good outcomes. This is attributed to the fact that it can give enough time to start or prepare something that is determined to do after decision making. However, in my opinion, hasty decisions cannot give desired results for two reasons.
First of all, if we make a hasty decision, we cannot consider many various circumstances that are related to that decision. It is obvious that many situations around us or relationships with other people are connected to one decision, so our decision will definitely affect those circumstances and people around us. This demonstrates that we have to consider all those related things, which would result in probably the most desired outcome. Even though that decision cause some negative results, we would not be embarrassed or regret it because we have already considered those outcomes. A research conducted by a renowned professor named Kim from Pittsburgh university indicates that people who have enough time to think about all possible decisions before making them satisfied with their decisions even more, whereas having the same satisfaction is somewhat difficult for people who have hasty decision. Likewise, his research proves that my argument is convincing.
In addition, there is no opportunity to get advice from other people if we make a hasty decision. In almost all cases, advice from other people who have already experienced something or learn more than us is helpful because it gives additional information and broaden our perspectives. But, when someone decide something hasty, he/she don’t have time to get those advice from others, which means he/she have to make decision with just his/her own knowledges or experiences. However, decision under additional information and comments will bring about better and desired results. To be specific, when I was a high school student, it was really difficult problem to choose which university to enter. At that time, I wanted to decide fast because it was really stressful for me, so the most famous university was my choice at first. However, my uncle, Smith, who graduated university and was an owner of his firm gave me advice that this university had poor employment rate of students recently. I thought that it was really helpful and started to ask to other people about universities that I considered. People around me provided many information about universities such as employment rate, neighbour environment, students welfare, and the qualities of faculty., and I decided to enter other university that was far from my house but had good curriculum. Although asking and getting advice took so many time, they were very helpful and thanks to those long decision making time, I am really satisfied with my university now.
In conclusion, hasty decision cannot give desired results. This is because if we make a hasty decision, we cannot consider many various circumstances that are related to that decision and there is no opportunity to get advice from other people. |
