Your Answer :
Undoubtedly, honesty plays a significant role in people’s daily
lives in many of the places where they work or play. Some people think that it
is impossible to be completely honest with their friends, while others do not.
Both sides may have their own reasons to support their view. If I would to
choose one, I would say that people can always be honest
with their friends. There are several reasons as follows.
To begin
with, trust is the most important thing to maintain relationships. When people
lie, they think it can be kept as a (keeps)
secret forever. However, there is no such thing as
secrecy (forever secret) in reality and eventually
(finally), it will ruin the
relationship. (will be broken.) For example, when I was in high school, my
friend was often depressed about her weight. She
thought that she did not look good in any of her clothes. (thinking
after buying her clothes because she thought the clothes did not be fitted her.) I felt the same but I did not dare to tell her the
truth. I told her that she looked pretty because I did not want to hurt her
feelings. (thought the clothes were not pretty for her, but I said that
“It is great!” since I did not want to hurt her. On the other hand, other
friends of her told her that “it did not fit you.”) (So,) Later when my friend found out that I had lied to her, (knew my white
lie,) she was very disappointed (to) at me
and we were estranged. This implies that trust is a
crucial factor for a relationship. (among
people.) If I had been honest with her, (told
her my actual feeling,) we would have built a
deeper relationship.
On top of
that, people can be at peace when they are truthful.
(relax better while being honest because they can feel better.) When people
lie, (their brain is) they become nervous
because they have to come up with a (make)
false story. Thus, if people are always honest, then they can be more relaxed and stress free. (release the
pressure on brain caused by stress and anxiety.) For instance, Seoul National
University found a huge difference between two groups of young adults in mental
health. One group consisted of those who always tell truth to their friends and family, and the other group
was made up of those who tell white lies.
The researchers found that the former was likely to have a higher score on the mental health test then the latter. In
particular, many of the first group showed stable behaviors and relaxed feelings. On the other hand, most of the second group
tended to get embarrassed and nervous
easily. This indicates that telling a lie can have
impact on people’s mental health. Without
lies, people would maintain a healthy mental state. (their mental health.)
All things considered, people can
always tell truth to others for the reasons I have mentioned above. All in all,
the importance of being honest cannot be overestimated in life.
