▶ Your Answer :
1) People nowadays spend much more time than
they should using text messages and new technologies such as a social media to
communicate with each other.
Some people might
believe that people these days spend much more time than they should on text
messages and new technologies to communicate with each other. However, I
personally disagree with the above idea for the following reason. People spend
time using them as much as they need.
To
begin with, text messages and new technologies allow people to strengthen their
emotional bond and feelings of security in their relationships. Those things provide
them more chances to socialize with each other by getting know and understand
while spending more time together. Being with others through a social media is
likely to prevent them from being lonely in today’s cynical society. For
example, when my older brother was in high school, he often felt depressed
thinking that his life became an exhausting routine. When he was seventeen, he transferred
his school from Seoul to Busan. It was difficult for him to make new friends
since everyone around him seemed busy and indifferent to others, treating each
other as rivals. It could not adjust to this new environment. Fortunately, he
was able to get over his feeling of loneliness after he used a social media,
Facebook. He could interact with the former school friends and related with
them. Actually, thanks to the function of online chatting service in Facebook,
he was able to contact with them after school whenever he got stressed out of
his daily routine. Although the time he spent a lot of time on Facebook, he
could get words of comfort from them and promote his realtionship. If it had
not been for the Facebook, he could not have been able to contact with the
loved ones.
In
conclusion, new technologies like a social media enable people to spend quality
of time with those who they care about. In this regard, people nowadays do not
spend much more on text messages and new technologies than they should.
2)
People
have free time to engage in many activities on either a day off from school or
in the evening after school. Which of the following activities is most
beneficial to young (age 14 to 18)
-
gaining practical work experience by having a part-time job or by volunteering
-
learning to play a sport
-
learning to play a musical instrument
Undoubtedly,
people these days have a lot of free time to engage in many activities. Some
people might believe that the most beneficial activity to age 14 to 18 young is
gaining practical work experience or learning to play a musical instrument.
However, I personally disagree with the above idea. Learning to play a sport
benefits the young for the following reason.
To
begin with, when young people learn a sport, it plays an important role in
their physical health. Exercise can help them to develop the muscle mass, speed
up their metabolism and burn calories. When these are well developed in their
body, it is likely to prevent them from getting sick and overweight. However,
doing practical work experience or playing a musical instrument cannot make
their body active because people rarely move while doing those activities. For
example, when I was in high school, one of my friend, John suffered from
diabetes and obesity. His doctor said he had a danger of death due to the
seriousness of body condition. He was a pianist at that time. Whenever he got
stressed out of his performance, he went to a fast food restaurant and ate
unhealthy fast foods. However, he has changed after he started to exercise
regularly after school evening. In particular, he walked on school tracks for 3
hours a day and jogged at a nearby park every weekend. As a result, he could
lost 20 pounds and maintained a normal weight. He had better control of his
blood sugar and gained some muscles. If he had not worked out, he would not
have become healthy.
In
conclusion, learning to play a sport allows students to improve their physical
health. In this regard, playing a sport is the most beneficial to young
