▶ Your Answer :
Some people
believe that socializing with friends having similar personalities is more
beneficial. There are obviously many opinions regarding this topic, but it is
clear that spending time with friends who are dissimilar to us is of great
importance. The concepts of a horizon and job skills clearly illustrate
this theme.
First and foremost, gaining
friends having different thoughts enables us to broaden our perspectives. This
is mainly because, unlike having friends similar to us, we can be exposed to the
different ideas and thoughts that we have never known before through many
friends. Consequently, we can take a quantum leap in intellectual growth and
accept diversity, which is important in an era of globalization. From my
experience, when I was in college, I often spent my spare time with friends who
were from different areas in Korea. As a result, I understood and learned about
a variety of local cultures such as music, foods, and dialect. This was because
I shared opinions with the friends, had lunch, and watched a movie together.
In addition, having various
friends can be helpful for one’s career. This is attributable to the fact that,
compared to spending time with friends having same opinions, if we interact with
friends who have different talents, jobs, and personalities, we can develop
interpersonal skills and the skills that coordinate a wide range of opinions in the
midst of people. As modern society has becoming increasingly specialized and
complicated, today’s companies are looking for the employees having such
qualities. Therefore, these are of considerable significance to fight for jobs in
highly competitive labor markets. For instance, my father, the CEO of a company
in Korea, often tells me that a job interview typically precedes the hiring
decision. He and other interviewers at the interview mainly look at the
applicants’ passion, interpersonal skills, and ability arranging different
notions. This means that having friends keeping different ideas is a sure way
for people to prepare for the future.
Taking all of these things into account, we
should agree with the idea due to the significance of perspectives and job specifications.
There is no doubt in my mind that having friends not similar to us will benefit
our future. |
