Some people might believe that the grading system towards education is not helpful to students. However, in my opinion, affording students the score of their learning is efficient in study process. This is because grades can be an inducement of education for students, and students are able to check how much they studied well by receiving scores. To begin with, providing students their grades can be a huge stimulus for students to study harder. Almost all of students do not want their score to be low. As a result, they study much more perfectly to make better results. For example, I have an experience taking a lecture that does not give students report card that contains grades. Because all students including me knew that the professor would not grade us, it did not make us to study hard. Even though there were several tests and assignments during the class, students did not make much efforts on them because we knew the fact that they won’t be graded. Moreover, as the class did not seem critical for me, I could not fully pay attention to the lecture because even though I study really hard, I thought that there will be no benefit in my credits. On top of that, grading system in education can be effective mean for students to know whether they learned well or not. If students get a low score, students are able to find what to study more. This leads to an improvement and refinement on their study. For instance, last semester, I was severely graded in the midterm of math class. I was disappointed, but I should study harder for the final exam because if not, it will lower my grades. I checked the wrong answers and works really hard to get better score. As a result, I could get better score in the final exam. Also, the notions and applications that I worked hard on still remain in my memory, which means it was very efficient method for studying. To sum up, grading systems can be stimulus for students to study and students can make improvement in studying by receiving scores. In this regard, I strongly believe that affording students with grades can be great aid for students in learning. |
