It is always difficult to fathom what others think, but my opinion in regard to the given topic is adamant. I prefer to take classes from a professor I already know.
To begin with, taking classes from a professor I already know is better since it is much more time-efficient to get higher grades. Generally, a strategy that yields the maximum of fruit with less is considered the best. When students take classes from a professor they are familiar with, it is likely that they already know his teaching and evaluating styles. On the other hand, it would take much time and energy to grasp a professor’s teaching method if the students take classes from the professor who they do not know well. Therefore, taking classes from a professor I already know paves a more convenient way to achieve higher academic performance since I would learn more effectually with a comprehensive idea of what to do and start putting my knowledge into rightful use as efficiently as possible. Professor Kim of Chungbuk National University in South Korea, an expert in education, compared the academic performances of two student groups and came up with the result that taking classes from a professor whom students already know gives positive influence on their test scores. According to the research, students who took classes from a professor they already know attained higher level of performance in a much more effectual way whereas having the same accomplishments was somewhat difficult for students who took classes from a new professor. Likewise, his statement proves that my argument in the benefit of taking classes from a professor I already know is convincing.
Furthermore, taking classes from a professor I already know is better because it is less stressful. My personal experience can be used to prove this point. When I was a freshman, I took the organic chemistry course from a professor who I do not know at all. At first, I expected to learn the organic chemistry in a good mood. However, the professor was so irascible. He used to criticize students so harshly when they failed to answer his question during the class. I had to try really hard to cope with him during the entire semester and it gave a lot of stress to me. I found out later that other students who already knew the professor’s bad temper never register for his classes. If I had known in advance that he was so irritable and nitpicking, I would not have decided to enroll his class. From this experience, I found out it is much less stressful and much more beneficial to take classes from a professor I already know.
As explicitly and logically elaborated above, I prefer to take classes from a professor I already know, firmly believing that it will benefit students including me more in the long run. |
