Some people take it granted that food advertisements do nothing with unhealthy diet. However, contrary to this idea, it is clear that advertising surely makes people eat bad food. The rationale reason behind this is that marketing power affects people enormously and advertisement usually let the food look like more tastier and healthier than what it is. First of all, advertisements are actually largely affect daily life with or without realizing. The essential purpose of the marketing is make people to buy the products, so they use all and every the strategies to make people want to purchase them. For example, Mcdonarlds uses red and yellow color to rise the appetite and focuses on how it feels when you get a bite. Also, the advertisement can be seen anywhere, anytime because they put amount of money to make sure everyone can see that. After repeated exposed, even a person who has a vegan diet has a desire to grab them. It would be said as the brainwash, especially for the kids. In one experiment, children who have been seen the video of junk food are three times more likely to eat the junk food that they just saw than the others who have not. In addition, people are deceived by the advertisements which make the food seems more fancier and fresher. Even if there is a restriction for over-marketing, companies usually put some tricks on ads. Some customers accept what they said without doubt and this can lead them a bad condition because what advertisements represented is not 100% real. For example, one brand of the cereal advertises their product as a “lose weight” cereal. But if you look in to depth, the effect that you lose weight is not because the cereal is actually made of health material, but the small amount of cereal that they suggest to eat. Moreover, the composition of that product revealed to be unhealthy which include bad fat. In conclusion, advertising is the major cause of the bad eating habits. The reason is that it forces people to eat unhealthy food and it’s exaggerating tactics for sale. |
