▶ Your Answer : The lecturer claims that the government giving money depending on the amount of the crops that farmers harvested, which is referred to as agricultural subsidies, is not necessary. This contradicts the reading's assertion that agricultural support gives positive effects.
The first point made in the passage is that food supply could be stable with agricultural subsidies. The lecture, however, challenges this particular viewpoint by arguing that overall food supply could not be increased, or stabilized. To be more specific, she took an example of agricultural support with corns, which was consequently used in biomass energy, not in food supply.
Another point the article puts an emphasis on is that paying money according to the amount of the crops could lead to lowered price of groceries. In contrast, the lecturer contends that this could not be true because the government only gives money to the farmers who produced only certain kinds of crops. This could lead to smaller amount of vegetables harvested that are not related to agricultural support. As a result, overall prices of vegetables would rather increase.
