As the number of people who are interested in success increasing thesedays, it is worth of discussing whether or not high school students should learn economics. As far as I am concerned, this benefits students ; to be comfortable with office life and to broaden their views. First, learning practical knowledge through economics helps students get used to the office life. Someone may say that this professionally-fragmented world prefers in-depth expertise and concentrating on one's major is more favorable. However, no matter which job a person chooses, it may be hard for them to be free from handling numbers and finance. Learning economics in high school might help students get used to this trend. To illustrate, I used to work as a teaching assistant in my school. Because not only was my major far from the mathematics or economics, but also merely my academic grades let me get the job,I did not think that the job would require me to deal with finance or a sense of economy. However, I had to deal with the university's money, order many educational stuffs and even hold liability for the undesirable consequence from incorrect calculations to purchase decisions. Though the tasks were burdensome for me, through this, I was able to realize these tasks are basic in the office life and importance of improving a sense of economy.
On top of that, economics allows students to broaden their perspectives, letting them success. There must be conservative opponents who argue students should study only to enter a better college and there would be many opportunities later to improve a sense of economy. However, no one might deny the fact that merely with academic knowledge, a person can not survive in this capitalized society. Indeed, a person with a sense of economy is more likely to understand what the capitalized society wants, conclusively achieving success. . For example, even in the art field, used to be thought far from economics, artists who know well about economics has succeeded more quickly. Murakimi Nakamura, one of the famous Japanese artists, said that his success is actually originated from his understanding of economy. Learning economics led him to getting out of the limited area, “art field” and communicating with reality , fully broadening his horizon. Virtually, his works with international tastes has brought him huge success since the early part of his art career. He recommeded that ,in a interview with Asahi Newspaper, every professionals including artists should know economic knowledge not for money itself but for widening one’s perspectives. As I have mentioned above, the sooner, the better learning economics is for the office life and for widening point of views. In these aspect, I argue that economics should be mandatory in high school.
