▶ Your Answer :
It is evident that in our society,
education has tremendous importance in our lives. Some people think that
children should have art and music as mandatory school subjects along with
math, history, science, and language; while others do not. I however, believe
that children have a right to choose the subjects that they want to learn.
There are several reasons to support my argument. So, I will limit to the two
the most relevant to the topic: the concept of specialist and interest.
First of all, the most important
reason for my thinking this way is that some children want to be become a
specialist in a specific field. Commonly in society, people who have a
specialty are welcomed and receive respects from others. Therefore, children
need to be encouraged to select subjects that they are interested in. Take Yuna
Kim, for example. Yuna Kin is a world-famous figure skater. She was interested
in skating when she was seven years old. So, her parents helped her to learn
how to skate well by hiring special trainers and did not force her to take
mandatory subjects in school. Thanks to the parents' efforts, she not only
obtained many medals from Olympics and competitions, but also became a celebrity
in the field of figure skating. If she had had to take some subjects as
mandatory in school, she would not have been able to make such wonderful
achievements.
Another reason why I think this way
is that some children do not want to learn art and music. It is known that
every child has different interests. Therefore, it is important to understand
children's interest and help them to improve their abilities based on their
interests. This reminds me of the time when I was ten. At that time, I was not
interested in music subject because I was bad at singing. But, it was a
mandatory subject. A day when I had a music class, I was late to school
intentionally to avoid the class. It was a silly but it happened. As this
experience shows, some children need to have opportunities to take classes that
they are interested in. If I had a chance to take PE class instead of music
subjects, I would not be late at school.
In conclusion, I believe that schools
do not impose mandatory subjects on children for reasons such as specialist and
efficiency. All things considered, with the reasons mentioned above, I believe
that I have sufficiently and adequately explained my position on the matters
regarding the topic.
