▶ Your Answer :
The lecture and the written passage are
about the domestication of dogs, in three perspectives. The written passage has
different aspect from the lecture relating to the three perspectives.
Firstly, they have different opinion about how dogs were
domesticated. The written passage asserts that dogs evolved from wolves. They
were trained to help hunting and eventually learned loyalty and friendliness
toward human. However, the lecture disagrees with it, because hunters usually
used traps waiting to hunt, which is a different hunting style from wolves
which were active and aggressive.
Secondly, they have different opinion about
when dogs were domesticated. The written passage asserts that dogs were
domesticated 16,000 years ago, according to DNA information. However, the
lecture shows us that there is an evidence proving that the first domestication
took place about 26,000 years ago. Researchers have found dog and a child’s
foot prints in a French cave.
Thirdly, they have different opinion about
where dogs were domesticated. The written passage shows that that dogs were
first domesticated in China, since China had highest genetic diversity of dogs.
However, the lecturer asserts that domestication of dogs happened in multiple places,
according to fossils spread all around the world.
