▶ Your Answer :
In the reading
passage, there is ample support for the author’s claim that the Everglades are
being destroyed owing to environmental problems. However, the professor in the
lecture gives several reasons as a rebuttal to the author’s point.
First of all,
the lecturer points out that water pollution from chemical process in the
Everglades is decreased. The speaker mentions the reason that the new government
regulates using chemicals from fertilizers. Also, the rules force farmers to
make the area not be contaminated. This casts doubt on the reading passage’s
claim that agricultural facilities bring about water pollution in the
Everglades.
In addition, according to the lecture, the process of soil already has
being remedied. As a result, this enable for the soil condition to return to
original ecosystem. This refutes the reading passage’s argument that soil
condition is vanishing by being dry and erosion.
The final point
made by the lecturer is that human development in the Everglades makes much
less endangered animal species. Moreover, the government converts a 700-square-kilometer
area which was used sugar plantation into wild marshlands. This can offer large
habitats for animals to survive. This counters the reading passage’s assertion that
human development where is in the everglades causes reducing places for several
animals.
