▶ Your Answer :
In the twenty-first century, relatively
more portion of population has experiences in college education. There are
several reasons for this increase, for example, many jobs began to require
bachelor's degree, and more number of colleges were established. As more
students from various background dive into college, the reasons for attending
the school show wide spectrum of answers.
First, as mentioned above, as fair number
of jobs set bachelor's degree as a minimum academic requirement, the need for
the degree increased. To meet this requirement, people choose to go college.
Since their final goal is landing a job after graduation, they focus on
lectures offered by career center, programs which help them to write and
correct resume and cover letter. In 2017, a sociology professor Kayla Betsy
conducted a survey asking students from various colleges why they chose to
further their education in college. 73% answered, to improve their prospective
in job market. Following this trend, schools began to provide courses
concentrated on career development and in-depth interview sessions with people
formerly worked in human resources department in different companies.
Second, for students college is a great way
to widen and deepen their knowledge and experiences, especially by exposing
themselves to the much foreign environment and new people. In college, students
came from various regions. On one of my class in undergraduate consisted of 450
students, no one came from the same town. Regarding the small size of South
Korea, the result was astonishing. Not only does the regional difference
contribute to the diversity of the college, but also a variety of interests
that students have. For example, when I was in college, even though I was
philosophy major, I could meet students from biology, engineering, sociology,
English literature in a class project. Based on seemingly contradictory
interests, we managed produce interdisciplinary presentation, which was granted
A. A great score was good for me, but the real swell was that I learned how to
deal with computer languages, the beauty of Keats and Weber. By setting oneself
in this new culture and embracing different knowledge and information from
fellow students, students can widen their perspective. For this reason,
students chose college education.
College now holds more students than
before. Students choose college education because it improves their career
prospective and their personal knowledge and experiences. |
