▶ Your Answer :
Some people think that enhancing one skill
is more beneficial than getting many skills. However, in my opinion, it is more
advantageous for students to obtaining many skills. There are several reasons
as follows.
To begin with, taking many skills enables
students to broaden their perspectives. Students are able to improve a variety
of skills through diverse experience and meeting a lot of people. These
experiences make students better understand others’ thoughts, lifestyles and
views. For example, a study was conducted by the Board of Education in Korea in
2000 to determine whether the number of skills could affect open-minded
students. There were two groups monitored. The first group was formed of
students who learned more than 2 skills such as doing exercise, playing the
instrument art and the other group consisted of those who were taught one
skill. The researchers compared outcomes and reported that the former tended to
be more considerable than the latter. This was because the students with having
more than 2 skills suffered more from diverse environments and met diverse
persons. This implies that diverse experience plays a great role in one’s personality.
On top of that, students can achieve
success by getting many skills. Developing various skills required them to be
diligent and passionate. When these traits are developed, they could move
forward. For instance, when I was in middle school, I was a lazy student. In
particular, I got distracted easily, acted on impulse and procrastinated during
class. However, I had change little by little after doing a variety of
activities such as playing the guitar, jogging and studying. By doing this, I
had a longer attention span and more passion in my task. As a result, I could
get high score in high school and entered a good university. Without an effort
to develop many skills, I would fall behind.
To sum up, acquiring many skills helps
students widen their horizon and succeed. In this regard, I firmly believe that
it is prefer for students enhancing diverse skills to improving one.
