Some people believe that the specializing in only one specific field is better than possessing a broad and diverse knowledge since they can reach a very high level of the specific field by fully concentrating on only one field, while other people think differently.
If I were asked to choose, I would say that having a broad knowledge of various academic fields is more valuable and beneficial to us than specializing only a field for the following two subsequent reasons.
To begin with, If we learn a diverse and large range of academic materials, we can get more opportunity to utilize the wide and various knowledge in our daily life.
And it would more positively and significantly affect our life.
For example, I usually tried to deeply understand all of school subject's knowledge when I was a student and by this knowledge, I frequently have helped many people do something more efficiently and boasted my smartness in many circumstances.
To be specific, when I was 14, I went to the aquarium with my classmates as a school trip and I explained a lot of functions of fish's organ to my friends and my friends started to call me such a smart boy.
Also, when I was 19, I helped my mom make more delicious cookie by explaining a chemical phenomenon of sugar and other ingredients which I learned at science tuition of high school.
So, I think that having a broad knowledge of many academic fields is more helpful than specializing in one field since we can more frequently utilize the knowledge in our daily life.
On top of that, having a broad knowledge of diverse fields provides us with more possibility to make new friends.
Because when we specialize only a field, the people who can share the same hobby or thinking are so limited for only some people.
However, If we possess a diverse and large amount of knowledge, we can more easily discover the people who have the same major or perspective with us and by this, we can more easily make a large amount of personal connections.
This is so important since people encounter an enormous number of circumstances for their entire lives which need to get help from other people to resolve.
Also, we can widely broaden our perspective by exchanging the opinions about a particular topic with the massive amount of personal connection.
For instance, according to an experiment of Tokyo University, people who have a few number of relationship has a so tilted and immutable thinking way compared to opposite people.
University divided people into two groups with the numbers of their personal connections and monitored them while conferring some controversial topics with two groups.
People of first team who has so small few numbers of personal connections showed so leaned and sensitive reaction and people of second team who have a lot of friends seemed to have a neutral and broad aspect to the controversial topic.
What I mean by this is that since people can get some wise and broad perspective by having a lot of friends, the having diverse and broad range of knowledge is more important than just specializing in only one field because it gives more opportunity to make friends.
To sum up, we have more chances to make friends and utilizing the knowledge.
In this regard, it is better to have a broad knowledge of many academic fields.
