▶ Your Answer :At first glance, it may seem
teachers should focus only on academic instruction. However, in my opinion,
giving practical advice about extracurricular activities and the future is the
most important for students for two following indubitable reasons. First of all, a wide array of knowledge is
immensely useful for students. To be specific, through extracurricular
activities, students can get diverse experiences. Experience is one of the most
essential factors to succeed in this world. Imagine people only have textbook
knowledge during their life. Their views will be so narrow when dealing with
trouble. Therefore, giving advice about extracurricular activities to students
can be a great help for students to succeed. A long-period research study
conducted by a group of education majors can be a good explanation of this. The
purpose of the study was to find out the relationship between diverse
experience and students’ success. There were two groups. The former group was
consisted with people who had done extracurricular activities at school and
received enough advice about them. The latter was a group of people who had
focused only on academic education. The result was intriguing. 10 years later,
the researchers compared the two group. The result reported that the people in
the former group more tended to succeed with the effect of the extracurricular
activities and the advice for the 10 years.
On top of that, without practical advice, it
is difficult to apply knowledge to real cases. On the other hand, student can
reduce time and effort wasted on undergoing too much trouble with teachers’
pragmatic advice. In addition, since there are numerous variables and options,
if proper advice about the future is provided, student can decrease trial and
error. For instance, when I was in a hard time regarding to selecting my major,
I could not find the right way because there were too many possible options to
consider. So, I went to my teacher and ask her to give advice about my major.
With the advice and encouragement, I could get self-confidence back and choose
my major.
In
conclusion, I am highly convinced that teachers have to offer advice about
extracurricular activities and the students’ future as well as about academic
education for the two crucial reasons mentioned above. |
