▶ Your Answer :
There might be some people who believe that older
people's opinions are more important to the young than celebrities' opinions.
However, I personally disagree with the above idea for two subsequent reasons
as follows.
To begin with, technology created a generation gap
between the young and the old. Over the past few decades, a variety of
electronic devices and internet-based communication mean such as smartphones
and SNS have been introduced, all of which used by the young much more than
their parents or grandparents. Thus, it is hard for older people to understand
the issues or trend about the young unlike celebrities who can be exposed to
such issues and trend. Let me bring up my personal story as an example. When I
was in high school, I wanted to be a football player and I considered to go to
university. My mom's opinion was that it is not necessary to attend university
to be a football player, but I read an article about the most famous football
player in Korea who named Jisung Park, and he mentioned that it is very
important to learn academic knowledge about football when someone wants to be a
football player. After reading the article, I decided to attend university and
learned a lot about information about football, so I could be a teacher in a
football school after my retirement. If I had followed the opinion of my mother
who did not know about this field much, I could not have got a job after
retirement.
On top of that, the young do not have enough time to talk
with older people. This is because young people are under a lot of stress and
pressure due to the competitiveness of today's society. They are very busy with
studying or working, so can not spend enough time with their parents and listen
to them. However, they can easily get information about celebrities' opinion by
surfing the internet regardless of the location or time. According to a recent
study done by Yonsei University's professor Kim, that the young people today
spend time with their parents or grandparents less than 30 minutes per week. On
the other hand, they have exposed a variety of online materials which are
helpful for them to know about what celebrities said. In this study, the 82% of
respondents who are under 30 said that they prefer to listen to the opinions of
celebrities to those of older people, because it is more convenient and easy to
get their opinions.
In a nutshell, I strongly believe that the opinions of
the old are less important to the young than those of celebrities, because the
old cannot know well about the young's issues and trend, and the young do not
have time to talk to the old.
