▶ Your Answer :
The reading passage argues
that Chaco roads has been used for transportation, merchandise, symbolic and
escape tools. However, the professor disagrees with reading passages.
To begin with, the passage claims that
the roads were used for the transportations
for merchandise and people. The timber has been found in the roads, so it is
speculated that supplies were carried by that roads. However, the professor is against with the idea because the roads were not
connected to any settlement. If they were used
it for transportations, the road must be connected to other settlements. And they were only using livestock for
transportation since there was no car. Also, ten meters road is too wide for
Chaco people.
Secondly, the author argues that all
roads were having special symbol on it. They were having religious in functions
like Southwest American. Nevertheless, the professor disagrees with the
argument. By saying that since there was no letter written in the road, it is
hard to speculate that it was made for religious symbol. The reason is that
religious records are usually in letter. In addition, even though they were in
similar with southwest America but it does not mean that Chaco people are same
as them. Also, they were in little contact.
For the final argument, the passage
mentioned that the roads were used for
escape tools. The large roads can help Chaco people to run away in a quick
moment when it is attacked by enemies. Still, the professor refutes the idea.
The defensive roads should have the facilities such as barriers or
fortifications but there was nothing. Also, the enemy could use the roads to
trace them. |
