Some
people think that the amount of time to take a sleep or to work out is
the most crucial in maintaining their health conditions. However, in
my opinion, the best and easiest method to become healthier is to
keep having a positive stance and to eliminate pessimistic thoughts.
This is because it does not require much time, and has no possibility
to get hurt in a mental and physical manner.
To
begin with, people do not have to spend much of their time
maintaining a positive attitude. People in the modern society have no
sufficient time to invest on their health, because they should keep
up with the ever-changing world. Therefore, it is the big advantage
of living with a positive thought that it needs little time, even
though they should be ready for sufficient time to sleep for a long
time or exercise on a regular basis. For instance, I had to study
almost sixteen hours a day to enter a university I strongly hoped to
go when I was a high school student. Therefore, I had no time to
spend on sleeping well and pursuing athletics. However, I always
tried to be in a positive attitude. Not only was I able to relieve
stress by doing this, but I could also enjoy my life at that time. In
retrospect, I guess that the primary reason I could graduate the high
school successfully was my way of thinking.
On
top of that, changing one’s mind in a positive manner is not
dangerous at all. Although people can be injured by enjoying exercise
such as weight lifting and soccer, there is no risk for them to live
in a positive way. Interestingly, people who spend longer time on
their bed to get enough sleep can increase the risk of diverse mental
disorders. For instance, a study was conducted by the Department of
Psychology in Seoul National University to determine whether the
amount of time used in sleeping can affect the possibility of coming
down with depression. There were two groups monitored. The first
group was formed of people who had slept for six hours a day. They
were required to answer questions in a questionnaire asking their
mental states. The other group consisted of those who had utilized
nine hours a day to sleep. They claimed that they had invested an
average of nine hours a day to fully take a rest, and were given the
same direction. What the researchers found was intriguing. All of the
people in the former group had healthy mental conditions and
well-rounded personalities. However, unlike people in the first
group, seventeen percent of those in the latter were at the initial
stage of depression, and an overwhelming 52 percent of them expressed
anxiety on a daily basis. This was because spending too much time on
sleeping is capable of giving rise to the malfunction of hormones in
a body. The result of the research plainly demonstrates that enough
sleep can also have a negative impact on one’s mental state.
To
sum up, having a positive attitude in their life has its own
advantages in that less time is necessary and there is no problem of
getting disorder. People are unable to enjoy them by taking a
sufficient amount of sleep or working out regularly. In this regard,
I firmly believe that the maintenance of a positive attitude is the
best way to get healthier. |
