▶ Your Answer : | Sports and art -- both are of great importance in peoples' lives. However, if the government could choose only one of them to allocate its budgets, I would say the priority should be given to the arts. Followings are the reasons why I would claim so. |
| First and foremost, we can enjoy the outcomes of arts throught the generations. People have enjoyed the music of Bach, the writings of Shakespear, the painting of da Vinci for centries. But do we enjoy the sports games in the past, say, a boxing match that was taken in 1918 Olympics? Certainly not! |
| Second, many kinds of sports are influenced by the climates of the country. For example, it rarely snows in my hometown. Therefore most of the schools near my home area do not have winter sports teams, such as skiing team or snowboarding team. Only rich kids can enjoy winter sports at the private facilities. On the contrary, arts activities are mostly indoor so it can be enjoyed in any climates. |
| Last but not least, sports are enjoyed by a limited population while arts can be accessed by all. We can easily eye-witness that disabled students cannot join most of the sports clubs. Some could say government can support Special Olympic teams, yet it also will benefit limited groups of people. On the contrary, art is much more accessble to the most of the people. Music, paintings, poems can be distributed to public through various media. I believe the government expenditures should be focus on the universal benefit of its people. |
