Some people may think it is a waste of money for the government to
provide training courses all adults over the age of 25 for free. However, I
think it is an effective policy to grant money to the adults who want to be
trained for new skills.
First, if the government is willing to financially support people
who want to get trained, the unemployment rate will be rapidly lowered. People
who were not able to get a job with their major and who are looking for a job
in the field that they haven’t experienced will have higher chances to get
hired.
For example, Korean government started to implement “Getting a job
for free” program 3 years ago. The program which provides new IT skills
training courses for free for all adults over 24 years old has dramatically
reduced the unemployment rates in South Korean from 30% in 2016 to 10% in 2019.
The “Getting a job for free” program has been praised by many Korean people
that it is one of the most successful economic policies of South Korea.
Second, free skill-training courses supported by government will
reduce economic polarization. It will provide some opportunities to learn new
skills and get a high-wage job for adults who haven’t afford to educate
themselves because of their poor economic circumstances.
For instance, I got trained to learn data analysis skill which is
totally irrelevant with my major with the financial assistance of Korean
government. The course costed about $7000 to get trained for 6 months. If
Korean government had not supported me financially, I could have not taken the
class and got my current high-paid job.
To sum up, providing free training courses will decrees the
unemployment rate and reduce the economic polarization. For these reasons, I
believe it is an effective way for government to invest its budget to pay
training fee for adults who eager to learn new skills. |
