A number of high schools bestow diverse activities
to students to improve their performance and behaviors. For example, schools
can construct an expansive gym, little art gallery, or build a place to promote
students to volunteer actively. No one can deny that those options both have positive
and negative aspects of educating students. However, it is my firm belief that high
schools ought to invent in sports for the subsequent reasons: to teach students
a sense of responsibility and to reduce students’ stress.
First of all, students can obtain a sense
of responsibility by working out. It is obvious that many sports contain group
activities; thus, students have to follow certain rules to evade disorder. To
be specific, students have to be punctual and must abide by rules, which, as a
result, allow students to learn the concept of responsibility from their negligent
behaviors. This is, eventually, be of help for students to be future leaders. I
have to admit that my argument has been profoundly influenced by my own
experience. When I was a high school junior, the school built a massive gym on
the center of the school, and a variety of sports, such as baseball and
basketball, were held there. By joining a baseball team, I had to follow rules,
such as being on time; otherwise, other friends have to wait until I come. After joining a baseball team for more than a year, I could be a punctual and responsible
person, which enabled me to be a team leader. Had it not been for the sports
facility, I would never have acquired a sense of responsibility.
Moreover, sports can reduce students’
stress. It is an undeniable fact that many students get stressed out due to their
studies. To get rid of burdens gaining from the classes, students need to exercise
and stretch their bodies to refresh their mind. This will, consequently, encourage students to focus on the study better. Drawing from my own experience, my
little brother, who is a high school junior, was always irritated because of stress
from his math exam. He almost spent 5 hours straight to solve the problems every
day, but his concentration did not last for a long time. Every time he felt stressed, he went to the school gym and ran the track for more than one hour.
It helped him to let off steam and focus on the math questions better than before.
In turn, he got an A on the Equation exam on the final. This example implies
that sports benefit not only student’s mental health but also, their efficiency and productivity
of studying.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that school
should spend a lot of money on sports section. All things considered, it is my
belief that my argument has been effectively and precisely delivered with the
reasons I mentioned above. Never should schools forget that sports is directly correlated to students' performance and health issues. |
