▶ Your Answer : The advent of technology encourages people to work at
home. People are no longer to commute for more than an hour to go to their
companies because they can simply work at home conveniently using their
computers. Moreover, people today tend to work alone to evade themselves from
getting stress from social relationship. I do admit that working alone has
both positive and negative aspects at the same time. However, it is my firm
belief that the importance of being able to work together decreases
rapidly nowadays for the subsequent reasons: the cutting-edge technology
and Individualism.
First of all, due to up-dated technology, the necessity
of cooperation is no longer exist. It is obvious that electric devices,
such as computers, free the restriction of location. People can easily talk
with devices and convey vital information without meeting, especially when they
are working. Therefore, people do not have to improve their social ability
to cooperate with others because of the technological developments. I have to
admit that my argument has been profoundly influenced by my own experience. I
have been working as an engineer at Samsung for seven years. About seven
years ago, my coworkers and I had to gather to have a meeting,
or presentation of new project, at that time. However, five years later
since then, we did not have to come to our offices to convey information. This
was because our company began to use an application called 'Skype' to have
a meeting using smartphones. This example implies that people do not have to be
proficient at working with others.
Moreover, as society became an individualistic society,
modern people feel reluctant to working with others. Since the 20th
century, many people begin to live alone and do everything by themselves,
and the concept of 'Privacy' was formed. People these days tend to conceal
their privates to others, and this attitude also, applies to work-fields. Since
the majority of people do not want to reveal their personal information
while working with others, the importance of working one another shrinks
in a short time. As for my little brother, who is a university senior, he
told me that every time the professor commanded students to do a
group-work, about 70% of students disliked the idea because they
preferred doing homework and tasks alone at home. Besides, in order to
successfully carry out the teamwork, students had to share their personal
information, such as their phone numbers and names to people who they do not
know. This circumstance shows that the significance of cooperation is on
decline due to the individualism.
To sum up, If I were asked to assert my opinion about
working with others nowadays, I would say the high-technology and the individualism
make people think less focused on working with many people. All things, considered,
it is my belief that my argument regarding to this topic has been effectively
and precisely delivered with the reasons I mentioned above. Never should we
forget that this issue may have a huge impact on our daily lives. |
