It is debatable
whether working three days with longer hours is better than working five days
with shorter hours. However, in my opinion, it is better for employees to work
five days rather than work only three days because working five days with
shorter hours has several benefits related to concentration and time to take a
rest.
To begin with, I
think that when I work five days with shorter hours not three days with longer
hours, I could focus on my own working and performance. Anyone can see, if we
stay in a same place and work for a long time, we could not pay attention to our
documents or others’ idea. Our concentration might decrease and body or mental
condition would be worse. For example, my father used to work for eight or nine
hours at construction company until a years ago. From now on, he just works for
6 hours a day and said that it is better for him and everyone to work well and
their accomplishment are improving.
On top of that,
I think that when we work for firm or anywhere, two days are enough to take a
rest. If we work three days, we would get to take a rest for four days. This
will make workers lose their daily pace, accordingly, their work efficiency
would decrease. To illustrate, a study carried by Labor association of Korea has
shown that more than eighty seven percent of employees chose a option that they
would like to work five days with shorter hours if they have a opportunity to select
the work hours. They chose the option since working five days and taking rest
three days is more efficient for their performance or responsibility and taking
a rest for four days would distract them.
To sum up, if we
work five days with short hours, we can focus on our jobs and we can refresh
ourselves in two days, because two days are never short time. In this regard, I
strongly agree with the statement that working five days for shorter hours is
more useful and significant for many workers than working only three days with
longer hours.
