▶ Your Answer : Since the appropriation that the government can utilize in one year is limited, where to pay that money should be chosen after contemplating several upsides and downsides. Some people think that investing in arts is of greater importance than supporting sports activities. However, in my opinion, the government should focus on sports rather than arts. This is because people can become healthier thanks to sports, and more of them enjoy sports in comparison to arts. To begin with, participating in sports activities makes people healthy. To put it concretely, people move their body regularly by doing sports, and this forestalls various illnesses such as obesity and diabetes. This effect cannot be anticipated when joining art-related works. Furthermore, they can easily get rid of their stress by communicating with others during sports activities, which is able to avert psychiatric problems like depression. My friend Kim who was in the same class when he and I were middle school students illustrates this point well. When he was 13 years old, he was really fat. Although he did not even reach adolescence at that time, he had suffered from high blood pressure. After being recommended to exercise on a regular basis by a doctor, he began working out for more than ten hours a week. Fortunately, he finally reduced his weight to 60 kg. It was plainly the advantage of sports which helped him succeed in diet and kept him healthy hitherto. On top of that, it is easier for average people to enjoy sports than to appreciate artworks. Lots of people are fond of relishing the games of diverse sports such as soccer and baseball. This is because they can sympathize with the process and outcome of games with ease. Meanwhile, it is fairly a hard task to make heads or tails of the meanings of artworks in depth. This is attributable to the fact that professional education is required to appreciate them, so people can hardly have an affinity for arts. For instance, I really like watching baseball games in person. Not only did I visit baseball parks in Seoul to watch games between Doosan Bears and Kia Tigers for many times, but I also remember when the Korean team won all of the baseball games in 2008 Olympic. However, I have not seen people who appreciate artworks in galleries on a regular basis as a pastime. To be specific, my colleague Choi claimed that he cannot understand why simple lines drawn on paper possess tremendous artistic worth. This directly demonstrates that it is easier for most people to feel sympathy to sports rather than arts. To sum up, concentrating on sports facilitates citizens to become healthier and lets more people enjoy their life. It should be noted that these two elements are truly fascinating factors which seduce the government to invest in sports. In this regard, I firmly believe that the government should support sports activities ardently. |
